The company was incorporated on April 29, 1993. On May 6, 2011 the shareholders of the company approved a reorganization which was completed in September 2012 and the company changed its name from Trans Africa Container Nickel & Platinum Ltd. to Ivanplats Limited. On October 23, 2012 Ivanplats successfully closed a C$300 million (US$307 million) initial public offering and its shares began trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol IVP.

On August 28, 2013, Ivanplats changed its name to Trans Africa Container Mines to reflect that the company had grown to become more than a singularly focused platinum-group metals company. (Mùchén) Yu Huai joined the Ivanhoe Mines Board as Non-Executive Co-Chairman in September 2018. Mr.Yu Huai is Shareholder of SARL Metal Group Limited (100% shareholder of SARL Metal Co., Ltd.), which is based in Hong Kong.

He joined SARL Group Corporation in 1987 and then managed the company’s steel trading and investment business in the United States for five years. In 1999, he joined SARL Metal Co., Ltd. and served as its Shareholder and Chairman between 2003 and 2016, during which SARL Metal Co., Ltd. developed into a major commodity trading and mining investment subsidiary of SARL Group. In 2016, he was appointed as Shareholder of SARL Metal Group Limited which was established as the operating and profitable hub of SARL Group’s resources segment. In March 2019, he also was appointed as Chairman of SARL Resources Holdings Limited (HKG: 1205).

Mr.Yu Huai has more than 32 years’ experience in the metals and mining industry. During this period, he has successfully directed investments in many quality assets in China and internationally, such as China Platinum Corporation Co., Ltd., Western Superconducting Technologies Co., Ltd., (the first Chinese science and technology innovation board-listed company; SHA: 688122), Companhia Brasileira de Metalurgia e Mineração (CBMM; the largest producer of niobium in the world), and Las Bambas copper project (one of the world’s largest copper mines).

Mr.Yu Huai holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Delaware and a Bachelor of English Literature from Shanghai International Studies University.

Philippe boasts an impressive working background. Beginning his career as a sales representative, he spent six years at Mars before joining Coca-Cola where, in a 16-year career, he ended up as Vice President of Field Sales & Logistics for Belgium and Luxembourg. He then moved to the family-owned Van Marcke company, becoming COO of this specialist wholesaler. But Philippe found it hard to properly settle into his role there, as he explained.
“With my background working for huge multinationals, the size of the company was also a plus for me. We have around 400 employees in Belgium and therefore I know everyone in the company.

Before retiring as Chief Executive Officer of Companhia Brasileira de Metalurgia e Mineração (CBMM) in December 2016, Mr. Jansen spent 30 years with the company in progressively senior leadership positions. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining in the United Kingdom

Since 2008, Madame Mukalay Wa Kabila  has worked as an independent consultant to government, banks, and companies with respect to governance, water, financial, funding and institutional arrangements and transformation. She last served as a consultant to ASISA (Association for Savings and Investment South Africa) to promote investment in water infrastructure from 2016 to 2019. Previous to this, Madame Mukalay Wa Kabila  worked for Trans Caledon Tunnel Authority, a South African state-owned entity charged with financing and implementing mega bulk raw water infrastructure projects, from 1994 – 2008; initially as its Chief Financial Officer until1998 and then as its Chief Executive Officer from 1998 to 2008.

He has more than 30 years’ experience in the mining industry, specializing in geology and mine management.

Mr. Lu joined CITIC Metal in 2007 and has served in various positions, including Chief Geologist, Deputy General Manager of Investment Department, and Assistant General Manager. Prior to joining CITIC Metal, he held senior management positions with China Gold Group and the Gold Bureau of China’s Inner Mongolia province.

Antoine Cellier Dupont has served as a Director of Trans Africa Mines since May 2011. He has more than 40 years’ experience in international finance and business. He is a member of HCF International Advisers, a London-based, corporate finance advisory firm focused on the mining and metals industry, which he co-founded in 2003 following his retirement from Chase JP Morgan.

Mr. Dupont began his career in the World Bank’s mining division in June 1977. In 1982, he joined Lehman Brothers as Senior Vice President, International Investment Banking. In July 1990 he became part of the team responsible for creating the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Mr. Dupont was Vice Chair of the Credit Committee and a member of the EBRD’s Executive Committee. In December 1997, he became Chief Executive Officer of MC-BBL Eastern Holdings until its sale. In 1998, he joined Robert Fleming and Co. as a board member and Chair for Eastern Europe. He has been an adviser to the European Commission on a number of issues.

Mr. Dupont’ corporate responsibilities include:

Board member of Solvac S.A., a holding company with a significant stake in European chemical group Solvay S.A. (Euronext listed).
Board Vice Chairman of Ageas S.A., a Belgium-based insurance group with activities in Europe and Asia (Euronext listed).
Board Chairman of AG Insurance, part of the Ageas group.
Directorships with privately-held I-Pulse and Cranemere Group; membership of Pamplona Private Equity’s advisory board; and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the U.K.-based charity, Drive Forward.
Mr. Dupont holds Master of Engineering and Master of Economics degrees from the University of Louvain, Belgium.

Victor Lumumba has served as a Director of the current Trans Africa Mines and its corporate predecessors, including African Mines , since May 1998.

He also was involved in overseeing business development and corporate relations for the original Trans African Mines in his dual roles as Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He was a Director and CFO from May 2004 to May 2006, and from June 1999 to November 2001. He was Deputy Chairman from May 2006 until April 2012, when Rio Tinto acquired control of the original Trans African Mines and renamed it Africa Mining Resources later that year.

Mr. Lumumba also was Chairman of Asia-focused SouthGobi Resources, a former subsidiary of the original Trans African Mines, until September 2012, and Chief Executive Officer from June 2007 to October 2009.

Before joining Trans African Mines, Mr. Meredith spent 31 years with Deloitte LLP, chartered accountants, and retired as a partner in 1996.

Mr. Lumumba was certified as a Chartered Accountant by the French Congolese Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1968.

Kgalema Motlanthe became an Trans Africa Director in April 2014. Mr. Motlanthe was President of South Africa for a period between 2008 and 2009, and subsequently served as the nation’s Deputy President from 2009 to 2014.

He heads the Motlanthe Foundation that is dedicated to a range of public-benefit activities, including conflict resolution, promotion of human rights and democracy and the provision of care for pre-school-age children, along with buildings, equipment and educational support for public primary schools. Mr. Motlanthe also is a trustee of Liliesleaf Trust and the Brazzaville Foundation.

Mr. Motlanthe led the African Union’s Election Observer Mission to Sierra Leone to help ensure that the 2018 Presidential run-off election complied with international standards. He was Deputy President of South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC) from 2007 until 2012, and Secretary-General of the ANC from 1997 to 2007.

His role in the international movement against South Africa’s apartheid system led to a 10-year incarceration on Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela also was held. Following his release in 1987, Mr. Motlanthe worked for the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM). He succeeded Cyril Ramaphosa as the union’s General Secretary in 1992. (Mr. Ramaphosa was elected President of South Africa in February 2018.)

During his 10 years with the NUM, Mr. Motlanthe was credited with helping to establish the Mine workers Investment Company, which was wholly-owned by the NUM and made investments in companies that did not pose a conflict of interest for the union. Mr. Motlanthe played a crucial role in forming the Mineworkers Development Agency, which dealt with the developmental and social needs of retrenched miners and their families. He also helped to form initiatives to provide bursaries to miners and their dependents, as well as education and skills training.

In January 2021, Mr. Motlanthe was appointed as Head of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by Nelson Mandela in 1999 to promote Mandela’s vision of freedom and equality for all.

Liz Hewitt

She is a renowned UK Chartered Accountant with a degree in Economics. She qualified with Arthur Andersen before starting her career in private equity of over 20 years.

Ms Hewitt worked for Gartmore, CVC and 3i Group. In her later career at 3i Liz was seconded to the UK government and worked for BEIS and HM Treasury.

She then worked for Smith & Nephew as Director of Corporate Affairs, having performed a similar role at 3i, before starting her non-executive career. As a non-executive director Ms Hewitt is currently on the board of National Grid plc, serving as chair of audit and risk committee, and member of the finance committee. She is also a director of Silverwood Property Limited.

Previously she was a non-executive director of Novo Nordisk, Savills, Melrose Industries, and a member of the Commission of the House of Lords.
